Loser

word: Aya Kamiki Music:Schon Arrangement: Schon

賢人的思想? ネガティブなカルチャーここに自由なんてもんはありゃしない
誠実さ見せ合うことで偽善でも善意にするりすり替わって

Who are you? Who am I?
ヤル気が無いって? 何を知ってんの?

誰かに指示される理由なんて無い 誰かの共感さえも今更いらない
綺麗事ならべるくらいなら口より進め

超人的*行為? あれやこれや人にはやれば出来るとか簡単に言っちゃって
そんなもんはただの傷の舐め合い問題は何も解決なんかしちゃいない

Who are you? I'm just me!

____________________________________________________________________________
*In her recorded song, instead of "行為"," she is singing with the word "行動." In Japanese, ”行為”means "the act," and ”行動" means "action."

*Also, instead of "fake smile," "whisper" is used.

It is "Loser."

The lyric is from PPC (Unreal pamphlet) I don't know how to post the image in here, but when I find out, I will do it.

Here this is.
Loser (Kanji / Romaji / English / French) Loser

Someone told me that the entire staffs (including Aya san) created all 280 pamphlets by their own hands. (I am not sure about the exact number. This is the official number. ) And that was why there were not entirely available. There were many people who could not buy at least 100 people or more. And I was one of them who couldn't.

Some unknown girl told me that every pamphlet was made slightly differently. I have a feeling that the staffs were rushed to make them by the concert date, and that may be why the titles, both "Loser" and "LOSER" are entitled in the same lyric.

Cybermoneygod I have checked, you are absolutely right, it is Loser.

It is also true that the pamphlet where too few, and it is really likeble that they have made them all together since Ya can only count on her crew, she's an indipendent artist now.

Every single ppc is signed by her. There are no major differences between them, I have 3 copies and they look all the same...So if you don't have a copy blame Haru Suano and Utena, since I have bought them for these two lovely members!! 爆笑

By the way: Kevin and Utena, your copies! I haven't had the time to go to a post office but I swear I will soon and you'll have your copy!!

Loser
Words: Aya Kamiki

A wise man's thought?
In the negative culture, freedom no longer exists here.
By showing honesty to others,
Even benevolence is easily substituted with hypocrisy.

Who are you? Who am I?
You don't feel like doing anything?
What do you know?

No reason to command me what to do,
I don't want sympathy from anyone now.
Instead of a bunch of fancy excuse,
Shut your mouth and go.

A superhuman action?
Do this, do that, if I try hard enough, I can do it---
It's easy for you to say,
These only nurse each other's wounds,
Hardly solve any problem.

Who are you? I'm just me!
If you like me so much,
Shut up and watch me!

No need for me to flatter someone,
I don't want a whisper from anyone now.
Rather than being puzzled by common sense,
Wreck it

Other people's life styles are, whether you like them or not,
The world that is way too small and suffocates me too much.
What is wrong about being self-satisfied?
You are also thinking about the same thing, aren't you?

No reason to command me what to do,
I don't want sympathy from anyone now.
Instead of a bunch of fancy excuse,
Shut your mouth and go.

No need for me to flatter someone,
I don't want a whisper from anyone now.
Rather than being puzzled by common sense,
Wreck it

Tamiyo, which sentence does not make any sense? I am just curious. If you can pinpoint the line in the lyric, I may be able to explain it. Of course, I don't understand French, and therefore, you still have to put the sentence in French.

I guess "nurse" can be translated with "cure", "take care of". Imagine that "nurse" is "infirmière" in french so you can understand the meaning :)

PostSubject: Re: Loser (Kanji / Romaji / English / French)   Loser (Kanji / Romaji / English / French) Icon_minitimeWed 05 Sep 2012, 6:46 am

The original sentence is "そんなもんはただの傷のなめ合い”
Son na Mon wa Tada Kizu no Name ai

"Sonna Monwa" means "those things," and in this content, "those" means three things, "do this," "do that," and "if I try hard enough, I can do it."

"You" in this lyric is advising Aya , the speaker of the lyric, by giving her these words. And she thinks the advices are "bullshit."

"wa" is a verb "be," and therefore, "are"

"Tada no" means "just" or "simply"

"kizuno nameai" is an idiom. "Kizu" means "wound," and "name(ru)" means "to lick."
"nameai" means to lick one another.

Those are simply "licking each others wounds."

But this is a Japanese idiom, and the idiom often implies a different meaning from the words actually say. "Kizuno nameai" is describing the animals like dogs licking each others wounds to heal the wounds. And the idiom implies, "two people (or more) under the same miserable circumstances are comforting each other "instead of facing the reality that put them miserable.” That is partly why the title is a “Loser.”

This is an example. If you are only person who is getting "F" on the exam, and everyone else gets B+ or above, you feel shamed and isolated. (I don’t know how the tests are graded in France, but in the US, we go A, B, C, D, F.)

Then, you find a classmate who also got "F," and you feel unreasonably better since you are not the only one in the class. After school, you and this friend are smiling at each other and telling him that you felt better to find him. He does the same. This is "Kizuno nameai." What they should do is not to talking to one another but to find a tutor to help them for the next exam, but they don't.

In English, "to lick each others wounds" only means "to lick each others wounds." Therefore, in order to indicate that this part is an idiom, I changed "to lick" to "to nurse" meaning "to heal" or as Val pointed out "to cure." "nurse a wound" meaning "to heal a wound." Thus, "nursing each other's wounds."

Besides, two men are licking one another is too "dirty."

There is a limitation in a translation. One translates a lyric and loses some meanings or things in the process. But that is fine with me because what I want to achieve here is not just "translate Aya's lyrics in English." What I want is to make everyone interested in the lyrics and to raise questions, and most importantly, to listen to her words and to understand the meanings of her words while listening to her music. Some phrases I translated are like Yoda in Star Wars speaking, but that is how a Japanese people speak in the language. Sometimes, I intentionally ignore the grammar or changes the words without changing her meanings so that you can listen to /understand her words in the music at the very same time.

And since you ask me this question, I guess I was successful in doing what I want to do. I have no idea how you are going to put them in French, and this is quite stimulating. Please keep working on the other lyrics if you have time and pinpoint the part you don't understand. This is really a great help. Thanks!!!!

Thank you for this great text !!!
With the explanations of the Kanji sentence I've understood and I've found a good meaning ^^

For translations, I use my personal knowledge but I use too a translator if I have a problem with one or two words in the sentence. Personally, I don't translate word by word, we must tell a story. So, I sometimes change words here and there.

Don't worry, I don't want to translate one or two songs. I need the complete discography in French for a personal project. There's just a little "problem". I absolutely need the English lyrics ... My knowledge isn't sufficient for Japanese (Kanji or Romaji).

Tamiyo san, if you do not understand any part of a translation, that means the entire people who only speak French in France do not understand it. That is a big problem since one day Aya may fly to France to have a concert, and you have to prepare French translations for her lyrics. Besides, it is good for everyone to achieve deep understandings of her lyrics. Well, also I want to point out that my English is not perfect. My first language is Japanese, and both my parents are Japanese. I flew to the United States after a high school, and I went to the collage there and earned a degree in English, concentrated in English poetry. The difficulty is this: Aya`s usages of the words are very unique. And these usages make a translation extremely difficult. Sometimes I stop working and think over a day or two to figure out what she is saying in Japanese. Please feel free to post any question regarding the translations. You are quite welcome.

Guys I need to be honest with you:

Rock me has no meaning, it is just a jumble of english sentences which happen to be the titles of her songs. The fact that she speaks no english at all makes me think that she just put sentences that rhymed together. My new mission will be asking her the meaning of this xD
